Why?

The main purpose of taking this course is a recently (not so recently) acquired "damn the man" attitude. I plan on using what I've learned to create my own site without being censored. Also, I need to be on the same technological level as the rest of the writing world - I'm like an iphone app that needs to be updated. This whole blogging thing is relatively new to me, so I'm eager to learn all the aspects of it and how to properly use it a platform rather than, Dear Diary today it rained.

Let's see, the writing I like to do...I have two types of writing: the writing I involuntary end up doing and my sarcastic blurbs. The former is strangely poetic and depressing. I can be the epitome of teen angst sometimes. I never quite aim for that (who does), but I'll write and write and write, look back and see this dark mess of words. As for the latter, the sarcasm bit is what I enjoy writing more. If only because I'd rather be funny over serious.

Patti Smith: I've only read Just Kids, before that I had no idea who she was. Yet, it only took one time to be captivated by the way she maintained just one tone throughout - a reflective, soothing voice that somehow was appropriate narrating each part of her life.

Jo Ann Beard: Her descriptions and language are so perfect. She's just beautiful, I would love to be inside her head.
